The permit nobody mentioned
The situationAn importer brings in a consignment of cosmetics. The supplier’s paperwork is complete, the goods arrive at Accra International Airport, and only then does the question of FDA approval come up. The cargo sits while the permit is chased, and storage charges begin accruing.
How we handle itWe review documents before the goods land, not after. When a consignment needs approval from the Food and Drugs Authority, the Ghana Standards Authority or another agency, we flag it at the quotation stage so the importer can start the process early. Where goods have already arrived, we work the permit and the declaration in parallel rather than in sequence.
Most delays at the airport aren’t caused by Customs. They’re caused by a document nobody knew was needed. Requirements depend on the goods and are confirmed per shipment.
